  1. Use table to compare and contrast the advantages and limitations of
    • Discussion
    • Cooperative Learning
    • Games
    • Simulations
    • Discovery
    • Problem Solving
  ADVANTAGES LIMITATIONS
DISCUSSION -participate by everyone

-The student can develop the way of thinking

– discussion method is not appropriate for all the topics

– some of the students may feel shy

COOPERATIVE LEARNING – Students may explain things better to another student than a teacher to a class.

– Questions are more likely to be asked and answered in a group setting

– the students is responsible for each other’s learning apart from themselves

– The goal of scaffolding is for students to become independent and able to think by themselves, without the help of others

GAMES -The student learn to socialize

– Games can be educational such as simulations of flight or real-life situation

– Improved eye-hand co-ordination for playing those fast action games

– The hardware and software together are quite expensive

– Games do not need much physical activity

-can waste time

SIMULATIONS – developing self-confident among student and teacher -Sometimes it is difficult to interpret the simulation results.

DISCOVERY -supports an active engagement of the learner in the learning process

-it can fosters curiosity

-it can enables the development of lifelong learning skills

-the student can creates active involvement

-it can confuses the learner

– has limitations in practice

PROBLEM SOLVING -encourage the critical thinking -Limitation of the amount of content covered, can be time-consuming.
